5 VOLUNTEER/JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR SOCIAL SERVICE LOVERS
This is for you, if social service work interest you
Let’s talk about volunteer positions. People oftentimes want remote jobs with fancy names. I will advise that you find an organization where you can serve, not just something that looks good on your cv. When I moved to Chicago, I first looked out for places where I could serve, I didn’t apply to fancy volunteer roles, I went for a place I could serve, such as the Hyde Park Neighborhood club.
But let’s focus on the volunteer opportunities in and out of Africa, where you can make an impact.
Asido Foundation. If you are a mental health enthusiast or a budding advocate, apply to serve remotely or in person. It will provide you with valuable experience. Visit www.asidofoundation.com.
The Left-handers Africa. If you are keen on mitigating discriminatory practices against the use of left-hand in African homes, you can apply here. We are actively recruiting for a director of operations, and it comes with a monthly stipend. Check out our website at www.thelefthandersafrica.org. You can email recruitments@thelefthandersafrica.org to find out about our paid volunteer positions.
Talk Naija. Talk Naija operates from the United States, and provides mental health resources, including therapy to black people of Nigerian descent; they would welcome people from different backgrounds looking to volunteer or add value to their work. Visit talknaija.org to learn more.
HIAS. HIAS is a job opportunity, not a volunteer role, and while the primary location is the United States, the position can also be based in Kenya and Chad, and guess what? FRENCH language is required.
So if you are bi-lingual, this is a go for you! The position is for Advocacy and Communications Specialist: Africa and Eurasia
