Two days ago, I got on a zoom call with Amanda, the community manager of Hera Hub Chicago. For context, Hera Hub is a business accelerator for female entrepreneurs. Among many other things, Hera Hub provides co-working spaces (online and offline) to female entrepreneurs.
Hera Hub is expanding and is open to accepting female entrepreneurs in other countries aside from the United States, and I am excited to be part of that vision.

Back to my point. In our chat, we talked about some ideas that can help female entrepreneurs.
After that call, I kept thinking. I thought about so many things I have done wrong in the past as a business owner.
So I decided to share some of my reflections here.
Never Stop Getting Leads. One mistake I made was not setting up a 24/7 leads-generating system. Your business is only able to sell or grow, only to the extent to which you are able to generate new leads. An example: domestic violence agencies are able to keep getting funds, only if they generate new leads- their leads often come from referrals, and hotline calls, among other ways. A pro tip: virtual events, offline events, free downloads, sponsored ads, media appearances, collaborations, networking, etc, are ways you can generate new leads.
Delegate Operations. Your business life cycle is dependent on revenue, not activities. So, let others take care of operations, and you handle the technical parts that no one else can do, even if you pay them in millions. A pro tip: At ideyforyou, our coaches, social media managers, video editors, operations manager, community managers, marketers, and advocates, all handle operations. I have handled these different roles in the past, but if we must grow, it was crucial to find people who can take care of these other aspects.
While I focus on the ones they can’t handle- finding partners for the brand. As you structure your brand, you may be unable to pay yourself after paying your team members, but it will all pay off if you are strategic. If you must grow, stop running the business like “as long as I have my monthly needs met”.
Find Partners: I can’t stress this enough. I am on a radical mission to collaborate this year and beyond, and I want you to give all your energy to do this for your brand. In my previous role as a supervised visitation and safe exchange advocate at Apna Ghar, I saw firsthand, how this organization would constantly look for partners. The collaborative efforts of these agencies are the reason domestic violence has constantly reduced in the state of Illinois, especially Chicago.
Only SELL. Every day, when you rise up as a CEO, your question should be: How do I close more sales? How do I find investors? How do I find donors? How do beat my previous sales record this month?
Heal Your Trauma. Before you ask: how does healing my trauma relate to how I may be wronging my business? Here is how childhood trauma is affecting your business. You grew up with certain beliefs, and some of these beliefs have shaped how you do business. For instance, I used to be afraid of delegating, worried no one will do it like me. As a child, I learned to do things practically by myself, and I am now learning to get out of my shell. Your business can only be as better as you are. Healing trauma is a crucial part of your CEOship. That is why we created the Executive Therapy program for CEOS. Learn more about us at www.ideyforyou.com
Your Come First. I can’t stress this enough. You do come first! Stop spending 10 hours online, and replying to texts at 12. am. You didn’t do it when you worked full-time in the corporate world. Why deprive yourself of self-care? It is ironic how you will grow this brand, yet become too sick that you won’t stay too long around to see the reward. When my mental health was under attack in 2020-2022, due to a painful divorce process, my business also suffered. If you are not well, you business will suffer, and so in all you do, you come first!
I have shared these ideas, as I am also implementing them for my brand. Which of them do you also use? Which of them is new? Which are you planning to incorporate this year?
