HOW TO WORKOUT FROM DEPRESSION Part 1
It never took my health serious, until something happened...
HOW TO WORK- OUT FROM DEPRESSION Part 1
I have thought for long, if I should ever start a series on physical health.
Last night I still asked myself "BM, who will read it? Who will engage?"
Many of us do not cares so much about fitness, nutrition, self-care or anything like that, except money! Haha.
Everyone says "I want to buy a car, get a new house, or some other things"
Only a few say "I want to lose belly fat. I want to eat more fruits."
But the real rich people are very healthy- cos they know how their ability to make wealth is linked to health. You still remember the saying "health is wealth" right?
I will tell you this story again. It was not really the divorce, but the series of abusive messages coming from this person, who made mockery of my body after two birth experiences.
I may not be privy to the events in your life, but I certainly can tell you some things about depression, cos I have been there-but thanks to working out.
Today, I will share about the ways in which the body responds to trauma.
The body and brain are connected in many ways.
When you hit your leg, the brain sends a signal to the body.
Thus, the body responds, by reacting.
It is this reaction that makes someone experience pain.
In the same vein, the body responds differently when you have to use the restroom to either do number 1 (urinate) or do number 2 (or poo), funny.
Also, the same body responds differently, when you have to push a baby out through the same channel.
In order words, the #brain interacts with the #body, and is able to send many different signals to it.
What is the point of this analogy?
It is to help you understand that the human body and mind (what I refer to as the brain here) interact during painful or pleasurable experiences.
Wilkinson (2017), MallorquÃ-Bagué and Van der Kolk (2014) have all described the ways in which the body and mind interact in healing from #traumatic #experiences.
See, let's not overthink #trauma as some death in the family, or other big heart-wrenching experiences- no! Losing a job can be traumatizing. Being behind on your bills can equally be traumatizing.
So when we learn to simplify trauma, it is easy to understand what leads to depression. Depression is the way we respond to things not going as planned in our lives.
Enough writing for a day.
What did you learn?
I know this is not how to make money in 60 days, but if you are not even alive, how do you make that money?
Happy Monday my friend!
