Employers Should Do These...
One thing is sure, you can never please employees, but this may be useful if you are interested in attracting and keeping the right people.
I met a friend at a public event, and as we drove home, we chatted about our jobs old jobs.
I told him about my old job and the many things I wished my employer had done, and the same things I am trying to incorporate at my company, ideyforyou.
He also talked about his experiences at his old job.
He still works for a company, while I went to start one.
Here are some of the things we wished more employers should do, and I am sharing them below...
1. Allow employees bring their own couches/favourite chair. Yes, I know this may sound awkward, but you know how when a child has a "favourite thing" , this child can do anything you ask him/her/they?
So, while this may sound like a very small thing, allow your staff to resume work in their favourite chairs. And if your organization can make request for comfortable chairs/couches for those of them who work in the office, do so. These little things just make all the difference.
2. Allow Dance/Music Break.
This in my experience is even more productive than coffee breaks, or launch breaks. As a matter of fact, many employees do not go on launch breaks or end up doing other things. Mandating dance/music or calling a friend break are simple, yet therapeutic ways of getting people excited, and more productive. When people dance, listen to music, or speak to their loved ones, they feel more alive, and are more productive.
3. Can we have more fruits as snacks?
I know some of you will come for me, but snacks do not have to be all junks, or unhealthy foods. Snacks can be bananas, oranges, apples, among others.
4. Can we send emails with emojis please 😀😀😀😀😍😍😍?
I mean it shouldn’t be that deep, working for an employer is already hard. So, if you are an employer, stop sending boring long emails.
Add some emojis. There’s a reason they are created.😅
Yes, I know this is not the typical culture in your organization, but these simple tasks, if well implemented, can change everything for your organization.
If you work for an employer, which of these ideas would you think is worth implementing by your employer?
I want to know your thoughts lol.
By the way, our team is available to provide strategic intervention to foster productivity, and employee motivation at your organization.
