“I am on my fourth degree, and the third master’s degree- and I am very sad- and this is why I am sad.
I am sad because, I sometimes compare my life with that of my other friends.
I am sad because I wish I had someone show me early enough, that I was meant for a career in human services space.
I wish there was some assessment I could take earlier in life to know that social work and law would be my path, and not three whole degrees before now.
This was my conversation earlier today, when I was sharing about my academic journey before Crown school.”
She fixed her gaze on me, while she moved her curly hair to the left and right.

“But you have gained valuable experiences that people will pay for.”
She said…
What is my point?
I have asked a friend to help in the past. She refused, and it made me sad.
Asked family members to invest in my business.
Asked a few folks to even sponsor my education.
And they always refused.
Why?
Because I was not relevant to them.
And this is the hard truth: people do not stick with you, ‘cos they like you, but because of the value you add to them.
For how you make them feel.
For the clarity you bring them.
For more than two years, an ex has constantly used smear campaign to bring me disrepute on social media, which made me really sad.
But some people never stopped following me.
You are probably one of those people.
And you know why that is so?
Because you feel connected to me, perhaps due to the value I offer here.
The hard truth:
What problem are you solving for people?
What value do you bring others?
