Take It…
You know when you’re the fixer and sometimes, it is hard to be vulnerable?
Then read this.
I was on phone with a prospect.
Another female founder. This one has years of experience in the nonprofit space, she’s a media guru, a sought after speaker, and a community organizer.
She’s a woman of many talents!!!
Apparently, she’s a fixer, like many codependents.
We got talking about her book launch and business restructuring plans before her birthday.
We made a list of people she can talk to, to raise funds for her project.
But guess what she said…
(Let’s assume her name is PR)
PR: I don’t know if I can ask people for the funds I need.
Me: (Interrupting politely) But you are always ready to help others right?
PR: Yes, I also give funds to support others.
So here’s my reflection of the conversation with this prospect.
I am working multiple deadlines, and I was beginning to lose track of some things.
Between reaching out to organizations for speaking engagement opportunities, to completing books drafts, to trying to find a journal for my recent paper 📑, to creating content for our company, to finding investors, managing a crowdfunding, to meeting with team members and partners, and also keeping up with family and friends.
It is alot!
I knew I needed help.
I sent a dm to a previous student, and asked if she could be my accountability partner.
She said “yes”
While I even hesitated asking for help- I knew I couldn’t keep up with things on my own.
So, there’s always that reluctance to ask for support, especially if you are the one people come to, to receive support.
Even a therapist sometimes, needs a ther
Take it.
Take the help.
Take the support because if you always give, you should never feel bad about taking.
And sometimes, just ask- and as soon as it’s in sight, TAKE IT!
What are you probably struggling with, that TAKING that help from someone who looks up to can make all the difference?
