When I was applying to study in the US for the first time, I thought that the fact that I studied Classics was a disadvantage.
It was after I realized it was possible to shine with a not so popular course by simply highlighting my skills, and achievements and of course selecting a competitive course ( my previous degree wasn't competitive enough.) I secured full funding.
There is a secret to doing this.
The first thing is
Skill set can be social skills and academic skills. Social include interpersonal communication and intercultural competence/emotional intelligence. Institutions value these!
Your academic skills can include research skills such as quantitative and qualitative research skills. Institutions value candidates with top research skills. If you don't have, begin to consider volunteering with professors who can allow you work on research projects that will help you develop these skills.
What academic qualifications do you have?
If you have a first degree, you're eligible for a Masters or even a direct Phd, and you don't need another Master's degree.
What professional training do you have? Have you taken online professional courses? These courses can prepare you for a fully funded. They say something about your commitment to developing yourself. Those are the kind of candidates universities or organizations are looking for.
Select a course carefully. Don’t go for a course that will not guarantee good funding.
Very prestigious courses such as Law, Social Work, Medicine or even a research based course can offer competitive edge post graduation, but you need to know where to look to secure the funding.

This video summarizes it all.
